Wilda Jean Strange, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Kentucky. She was born in Powell County on April 26, 1938, to the late Samuel Profitt and the late Mary Creech Profitt. In her younger years, Wilda found joy in visiting the elderly, bringing thoughtful gifts that reflected her deep appreciation for their wisdom and life experiences. She cherished these moments, eager to soak up the invaluable lessons they imparted. Wilda dedicated her work life to C.M.S. and Lycoming Shoe Factory, where she contributed her skills and unwavering diligence. She was a devoted member of Vaughn's Mill First Church of God. At home, her heart was filled with affection for her beloved cats, who brought her endless joy and companionship. Wilda also had a passion for creativity; she delighted in coloring and losing herself in books. Her green thumb thrived in her vegetable and flower gardens, where she nurtured her plants with care and attention, taking pride in the beauty and bounty they yielded. Known for her kindness and gentle demeanor, Wilda also possessed a quiet strength, standing firm for the principles she held dear. She was a remarkable blend of compassion and conviction, leaving an enduring impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. In addition to her parents, Wilda is preceded in death by four brothers: Bill Profitt, Jerry Profitt, Willard Profitt, and Buford Profitt; two sisters: Hazel Combs and Mildred Nickels; and one son-in-law: Wayne Hutchinson. She is survived by one son: Randy (Tina) Strange of Clay City; one daughter: Debbie Hutchinson of Glasgow; and one grandchild: Derek Patrick. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Goodwin Cemetery in Clay City with Derek Patrick, Chayse Haggins, Jeff Jones, Kenny Willoughby, Garry Booth, and Brian Marcum serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Mae Barnes, Mary Golden Huff, Trisha Hailperin, Lorelei Patrick, Kylie Patrick, Henrietta Watkins, and Phyllis Holder. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
