Omer Branham

Omer Branham, age 86, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on Saturday, May 13, 1939, in Stanton, Kentucky, to the late John Branham and the late Eliza King Branham. Omer had an enduring passion for outdoor adventures, particularly deer hunting, squirrel hunting, and fishing. He was not just an avid outdoorsman but also a skilled mechanic, relishing the time spent working on vehicles alongside his grandson Keagan, fostering an unbreakable bond built on shared interests and learning. A man of great kindness, Omer would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His strong-willed nature made him proud and determined, never wanting to impose on others. Omer cherished every moment with his grandchildren, always eager to create lasting memories filled with laughter and love. As a devoted husband, he showered his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with unwavering affection, embodying the essence of a loving family man. Throughout his life, Omer excelled in various trades, making significant contributions in electrical powerline construction, waste management, and, for many years, in maintenance at Natural Bridge State Park. He not only gained respect for his hard work but also became a great mentor to many, imparting wisdom and skills to the next generation. Omer's legacy is one of love, generosity, and a deep appreciation for both family and the great outdoors. In addition to His parents, Omer is preceded in death by one daughter, Theresa Michelle Lawson; five brothers: Elmer Branham, Ovie Branham, Lewis Branham, Howard Branham, and Jerry Branham; four sisters: Delphia Barker, Cora King, Martha Coldiron, and Loudema Creech. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Spencer Branham of Stanton; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn (Ike) Abner of Stanton; one son, Douglas Ray Branham of Nada; six grandchildren: Keagan Blake (Lauren Shanks) Whitehurst, Omera Michelle Abner, Nellie Branham, Jessica Branham, James Branham, and Samuel Ray Branham; and three great-grandchildren: Kolter Blake Whitehurst, Kason Asher Shanks, and Haisleigh Michelle Whitehurst. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Eddie Dawson will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Burial will be held at Jewel, Combs & Day Cemetery in Frenchburg, with Keagan Blake Whitehurst, Briar Lawson, Robert Branham, Ike Abner, Bow Warren, and Steven Gabbard serving as active pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
