Maglene Strange, age 93, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her home in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. She was born on Monday, January 30, 1933, in Furance, Kentucky, to the late Samuel Patrick and the late Nettie Merrill Patrick. Maglene was a cherished member of the Kentucky Friends of the Bluegrass and the Turtle Club, where she formed lasting connections. Known for her sweet, melodious voice, she was the harmony singer for the band Cliff Strange and Three Pounds of Bluegrass, bringing joy to countless music lovers through her performances. In her youth, Maglene nurtured a deep passion for gardening, spending many hours tending her vibrant flower beds and producing an abundance of homegrown vegetables that she would lovingly can for her family. Her home was an inviting sanctuary. A dedicated caregiver, Maglene often babysat for various families in the community, always offering her gentle touch and warm heart. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she attended Calvary Baptist Church regularly and maintained a profound relationship with God, embodying her beliefs with the simple act of praying over her food—even for something as small as a cracker. Maglene was a humble, meek woman who had an innate ability to connect with everyone she met, never considering anyone a stranger. Traveling to music festivals with her husband brought her immense joy, and those moments were undoubtedly the highlights of her life, combining her love for music and adventure. Maglene excelled as a homemaker and seamstress, crafting beautiful dresses for her children as they grew and creating intricate quilts that became treasured family heirlooms. For nearly two decades, she relished winter getaways to Florida, where she could bask in the sun and escape the chill of Kentucky winters. Maglene's grace and beauty shone through her dignified demeanor. She was fiercely devoted to her family, nurturing a warm and loving environment for her children and grandchildren. An accomplished cook, Maglene was renowned for her mouthwatering biscuits and cornbread, recipes that will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who enjoyed a place at her table. In addition to her parents, Maglene is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Clifton Strange; two daughters, Judy Carol Strange and Pamela Sue Bush; her son-in-law, Woodrow Bush; one great-grandchild, Allyssa Eyveigh Cox; several brothers; and one sister. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann (Ray) Isaac; four grandchildren: Jessica Bush Blevins of Jeffersonville, Latisha C. McKinney of Jeffersonville, Brandy (Brandon) Smallwood of Mount Sterling, and Alicia Frazier of Clay City; five great-grandchildren: Layne McKinney, Ethan Frazier, Hayden Cox, Gabriel Smallwood, and Katherine Frazier; a host of nieces and nephews; and two special friends: Morgan Bentley Skidmore and Virginia "Sissy" Watson. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro.
