Verna Mae Knox, age 84, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by her family in Clay City, Ky. She was born June 27, 1941, in Powell County to the late James and Letha Mae (Rogers) Tipton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Garrett Tipton, Raymond Tipton, Cecil Tipton, Sherdon Tipton, Herdon Tipton, Wilgus Tipton, Odean Tipton, Roger Tipton, Denvil Tipton and sisters Athena Townsend, Thelma Boyd, and Louise Townsend. She is survived by her children, Bobby (Kim) Knox, Kendall (Adria Crowe) Knox, and Patricia Knox; grandchildren, Amy (Donnie) Baker, Rebecca (Michael) Helton, Amanda (Jordan) Jester, Savannah (Joe) Snowden, Kyle (Marlee) Knox, Will Winburn and Wesley (Jessie) Winburn; and a host of grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by a brother Doc (Mary) Tipton and a sister LaDonna (Doug) Hood. Mae was a member of Goff’s Corner Church of God. She enjoyed serving and fellowshipping with her church family. In years past, Mae enjoyed planning church dinners, helping to clean the church and singing in the choir. She was a true servant of our Lord. Family was everything to Mae and she truly cherished every moment spent with them. She always looked forward to planning the next family reunion or family dinner. She was supportive and helped all of them in any way she could. She expressed her love for her family through every hug, every kind word, and every thoughtful action. No one could question the deep love she had for them. Mae was meticulous in every aspect of her life. She took great pride in her home and flower gardens, dedicating hours to keeping them beautiful and well cared for. Mae was a shining example of kindness, strength, and grace to all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 W College Avenue, Stanton, KY from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services officiated by Mike Phillips and will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be held at Stonegate Cemetery in Stanton, KY with Amy Baker, Rebecca Helton, Amanda Jester, Savannah Snowden, Kyle Knox, Will Winburn, and Wes Winburn serving as active pallbearers. As Mae was dearly loved by so many, we would like to recognize all those as Honorary Pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home.
