Lillie Mae
Combs
Mar 12, 1945 — Sep 6, 2026
Clay City
Lillie Mae Baber Combs, age 81, passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Centerpoint Health in Winchester, Kentucky. She was born on Monday, March 12, 1945, in Clay City, Kentucky, to the late Reece Baber and the late Lizzie Townsend Baber. Lillie was a devoted homemaker who embodied humility and kindness in everything she did. She had a gentle demeanor and a heart full of sweetness, and she rarely uttered a harsh word. Lillie loved fishing with her husband and family, but if they were occupied, she was perfectly content to cast her line alone, enjoying the peace and sounds of nature. In her kitchen, the sweet aroma of home-cooked meals filled the air as she busied herself with canning fresh vegetables, a tradition that highlighted her love for the harvest season. Family was her true passion; every Sunday, without fail, Lillie opened her home to her loved ones, preparing a hearty meal that brought everyone together after church. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and her home was a sanctuary of warmth and love where laughter echoed, and bonds were strengthened. In addition to her parents, Lillie is preceded in death by one daughter, Dana Lynn Combs; one brother, Gary Baber; and one sister, Alma Trent. She is survived by her husband, Danny Irvin Combs of Clay City; two daughters: Danita (Darren) Farmer of Stanton, and Shannon (Jeff) Brewer of Clay City; four grandchildren: Brandon (Kristen) Farmer, Brooke (D.J.) Haddix, Brett Farmer, and Jaxen Brewer; and four great-grandchildren: Lydia Farmer, Amelia Farmer, Kimber Farmer, and Zaiden Kirby. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. John Combs and Bro. Brad Epperson, will be held at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M., immediately following visitation. Burial will be held at Eaton Cemetery in Clay City, Kentucky, with Brandon Farmer, Brooke Haddix, Brett Farmer, Jaxen Brewer, Zaiden Kirby, and D.J. Haddix serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Hospice East, Warren and Carolyn Rogers, the Centerpoint Med Surg Team, Sue Faulkner, and her caregiver family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
