Lajune Choate, age 77, wife of Robert “Bob” Paul Choate of Maple Street, Stanton, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Kentucky. She was born on August 8, 1948, in Harlan, Kentucky, to the late Carl Edward Howard and Lena Mary Calloway Howard. Lajune loved family gatherings and treasured being in the presence of those she loved. She often prepared large dinners for friends and family, cherishing the time spent together in conversation. She deeply loved her husband and was, in every way, a caring and compassionate person to everyone she met. Later in life, she enjoyed the challenge of working puzzles and took great pride in each one she completed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Paul Choate, Jr., and Paul Harrison Haywood; and four brothers, Jerry Edward Howard, Paul Donnie Howard, Robert “Robby” Howard, and Michael “Mike” Howard. Along with her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Cammy Lee (Ben) Wiseman of McHenry, Illinois; two sons, Ronald David Choate of Lake Villa, Illinois, and Keith Edward Haywood of Stanton, Kentucky; four sisters, Wilma Jean Hensley of Wallins Creek, Kentucky, Debbie (Delaney) Galloway of Wallins Creek, Kentucky, Theresa Howard of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Tammy (Bobby) Whitehead of Stanton, Kentucky; two brothers, Clayton “Blackie” Howard of Wallins Creek, Kentucky, and LeRoy (Sharon) Howard of Fort Payne, Alabama; six grandchildren, Ronald David Choate, Jr., Nathan (Candace) Haywood, Dale Haywood, Kevin (Allison) Wiseman, Kelly Wiseman (Phillip) Lesniak, and Makayla Wiseman; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Haywood, Zachary Wiseman, Mave Lesniak, Maya Lesniak, and Maya Haywood; and a host of extended family whom she cherished. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Kentenia Full Gospel, 2911 KY 219, Wallins Creek, Kentucky. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in the Park Howard Cemetery in Wallins Creek, Kentucky, with Ben Wiseman, Christopher Dagnon, Robbie Whitehead, Ben Sears, Keith Edward Haywood, and Kelly Wiseman Lesniak serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Wiseman, Steven Whitehead, Jordan Howard, Michael Blaine Howard, Nathan Haywood, and Dale Haywood. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
