Joyce Jeralene Snowden Burnett, age 82, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at her home in Stanton, Kentucky. She was born in Powell County on May 11, 1943, to the late Thomas Shelton Snowden and the late Naomi Rogers Snowden. Joyce was a warm-hearted and loving woman with a unique ability to see the goodness in everyone she encountered. Her gentle spirit shone through in the way she cherished her family, relishing every moment spent in their company. A passionate crocheter, she created beautiful, intricate pieces that showcased her creativity and patience. In her vegetable garden, Joyce cultivated vibrant plants, nurturing them with love and care, and she took great pleasure in harvesting the fruits of her labor. She found immense joy in cooking, especially when it came to her famous fried chicken, perfectly crispy and golden brown, that sizzled and crackled in her trusty iron skillet. The rich aroma filled the kitchen, drawing her family in. They eagerly gathered around the table, savoring not just the chicken, but also her delectable homemade cobbler—warm, sweet, and bursting with juicy, ripe fruit, topped with a buttery, flaky crust that melted in their mouths. Each bite was a celebration of love and tradition, and her family savored every moment spent together over her lovingly prepared meals. Joyce's fascination with coins and stamps led her on countless adventures as she sought rare finds to add to her treasured collection. In her later years, she discovered a newfound joy in coloring, delighting in the soothing act of bringing intricate designs to life with vivid hues. Joyce found profound happiness in the simple pleasures of life, often reminding those around her to appreciate the beauty in the little things.
