John Hobert Warner, age 81, passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, November 28, 2025, at his home in Winchester, Kentucky. He was born on Thursday, March 2, 1944, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, to the late Golden Major Warner and the late Audrey Rice Warner. John was a skilled boilermaker welder, proudly affiliated with Boiler Makers Union #667 in Nitro, West Virginia. His achievements extended beyond his profession, as he was honored with the title of Kentucky Colonel, a recognition reflecting his integrity and community spirit. As a dedicated layman Baptist minister, John often filled in for pastors during their absences, sharing his faith and compassion with the congregation. In a testament to his community commitment, John generously donated land for the local Fire Department that he volunteered with, which proudly serves the Flatrock, West Virginia area. An ardent animal lover, he shared his home with a beloved cat named Fred and a loyal dog named Izzy, often referring to himself as an "animal magnet." John's knack for naming his pets after friends and family highlighted his playful and warm-hearted nature. A passionate collector, John amassed an impressive collection of baseball cards and rare coins, each piece telling its own story. He found great joy in farming, nurturing his garden, and canning the fruits of his labor, relishing the taste of fresh produce. His affinity for nature extended to rock collecting, where he took pleasure in discovering their uniqueness. John took pride in maintaining his yard, where he found solace in mowing the grass and cultivating a beautiful landscape. He also operated a successful business called Possum Construction, showcasing his entrepreneurial spirit. Alongside his wife, he ran T.J. Warner's Collectables Business, where they sold a variety of eclectic items that delighted their customers. A genuinely kind-hearted and congenial man, John had a remarkable ability to connect with others—he never met a stranger. His gift for storytelling, particularly his knack for telling jokes, brought laughter and joy to those around him, making him a cherished figure in his community. John is survived by his wife, Teresa Warner, of Winchester; one brother, Gilmer "Jack" (Maxine) Warner, of Flatrock, West Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Billie (Julie) Kelley, of Winchester, and Tonya (Scott) Pope, of Ashland; three nieces: Kelley "Spears" Pope, of Lexington, Audrey Warner, of Flatrock, West Virginia, and Teresa (Scott) Wilkinson, of Parkersburg, West Virginia; and many loving friends and family.
