Joanne Roberta De Filippo, age 92, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Windsor Care Center in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. She was born in Carthage, New York, on July 15, 1933, to the late Robert Lasher and the late Madeline Rourke Lasher. Joanne was a dedicated professional secretary whose career began at the City of Rye in New York. Following her retirement, she embraced a new chapter in Stanton, Kentucky, where she continued to utilize her skills as a secretary at Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years. Joanne was deeply committed to her faith; she actively participated in church life, where she played a vital role in teaching Sunday School classes and was involved in the Upward Basketball program. Joanne, known as Gram by her beloved grandchildren and Gigi by many others, was a strong source of support and love. Her friendly smile and caring nature made everyone feel safe and valued. Joanne brought joy to everyday moments; she was not just a grandmother, but a trusted friend and a guiding influence in the lives of her family and friends. Outside of her professional and church commitments, Joanne found joy in sewing and quilting, expressing her creativity and passion through beautiful handcrafted pieces. Her warm and outgoing personality naturally attracted a wide circle of friends, with whom she loved sharing meals and creating cherished memories. Joanne had a particular fondness for animals, especially her beloved dogs, which brought her immense joy and companionship. A long-time supporter of Friends of Powell County Pets, she exhibited her compassion not just for her own pets but for all animals in need. Joanne truly embodied the spirit of Christ's love, and her vibrant presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Joanne is survived by two sons: Thomas G. (Laurie) De Filippo of Stanton, and James Robert (Linda) De Filippo of Stamford, Connecticut; one daughter: Caryn L. De Filippo of Mamaroneck, New York; one brother: Gary (Helen Ann) Lasher of Devon, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren: Amanda (Michael) Burgher, Holly (Willie) Nolan, Lindsey (Jeff) Garcia, and Michael (Barbara) De Filippo; seven great-grandchildren: Boone Chaney, Lily Chaney, Alison (Bailey) Craig, Ty De Filippo, Oliver De Filippo, Archer De Filippo, Emilia De Filippo, and looking forward to another great-grandchild due in the next few weeks; and one great-great grandchild: Georgia Craig.
