Jeffrey Clay Willoughby, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his home in Stanton, Kentucky. He was born on Friday, December 18, 1964, in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, to the late John Daniel "J.D." Willoughby and the late Teresia Powell Willoughby. Jeffrey was a devoted follower of Jesus who embraced his faith in the Church of God. In his younger years, he thrived in Church Softball leagues, enjoying the spirit of competition and camaraderie. Jeffrey had a deep love for Gospel music, which filled his home and heart. He was a member of the Powell County High School Class of 1982. After high school, Jeffrey became a skilled self-employed carpenter and heavy equipment operator. In the springtime, he delighted in collecting wildflowers and sought out mushrooms and ginseng during his outdoor adventures. Jeffrey passionately enjoyed playing golf and cherished his family, always looking out for them and nurturing close bonds with his siblings. He often spent time visiting at Trent's Garage, where he loved engaging in friendly conversations with the local men. In addition to his parents, Jeffrey is preceded in death by four brothers: Luther Willoughby, John Daniel "Johnny" Willoughby II, William "Bill" Willoughby, and Larry Willoughby. He is survived by three brothers: Sherman (Patum) Willoughby of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Linville Willoughby and Leon Willoughby, both of Stanton; four sisters: Sharlene (Thomas) Stevenson of Stanton, Ruth Charles of Jeffersonville, Rebecca Henry of Stanton, and Madonna Lawson of LaFayette, Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Stephen Donithan will be held at the funeral home immediately following visitation at 1:00 P.M. Burial will be held at Miller Cemetery in Stanton, with Linville Willoughby, Jonathan Henry, Josh Henry, Brian Wade, Angie Hamilton, and Michael Willoughby serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Reed, Jeff Trent, Logan Faulkner, and Jim Carpenter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
