Evelyn Elois Davis

Evelyn Elois Davis, age 89, of Clay City, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the Wolfe County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Campton, Kentucky. She was born on June 15, 1935, to the late William Hoy Childers and the late Ollie Trent Childers. Evelyn cherished her family deeply and found immense joy in the simple pleasure of being at home with them. A devoted lifelong member of Clay City Baptist Church, she embraced her faith with a warmth that touched everyone around her. In her role as the secretary at Clay City Elementary, Evelyn was the heart of the office, known for her kindness and dedication. Her green thumb flourished in her beloved vegetable garden, where vibrant tomatoes ripened under the sun, and her flower garden burst into color throughout the seasons. Among the many joys in her life, Evelyn had an unbreakable bond with her little dog, Cisco, who brought her endless affection and companionship before he sadly passed away. Her love for her family and the life she cultivated is a testament to her nurturing spirit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Davis; two sons: William J. Davis and Cecil B. Davis, Jr.; two brothers: Herbert Childers and James Childers; one sister, Avanell Hatton; and two grandchildren: Linda Michelle Davis and Joshua Davis. Evelyn is survived by one son, Darrell (Patty) Davis of Frenchburg; two sisters: Marlene Meadows and Patricia Bellamy; six grandchildren: Brooke (Shaun) Shoemaker, Faron (Monica) Davis, Jessica Davis, Hannah (Jacob) Conner, Bryan Davis, and Morgan Davis; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Kolby Tipton, Kingston Shoemaker, Annsley Shoemaker, Kohen Shoemaker, Grayson Davis, Gavin Davis, Bobby Blevins, Abigail Ingram, Jonah Ingram, Duke Conner, Dean Conner, Davis Conner, Maryn Conner, William Daivs, and Kyler Davis. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. John Combs will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Burial will be held at Vaughns Mill Cemetery in Clay City, with Faron Davis, Bobby Blevins, Jonah Ingram, Shaun Shoemaker, Jacob Conner, and Bryan Davis serving as active pallbearers. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
