Dorothy Adams Knox, age 89, passed into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at her home in Clay City, Kentucky. She was born in Bowen, Kentucky, on March 2, 1936, to the late Jess Adams and the late Bessie Adams. Dorothy was a devoted woman who cherished her faith and found joy in attending the West Bend First Church of God, where she connected with her community and deepened her spiritual life. Her passion for sewing brought countless beautiful creations to life, while her cooking skills made her the heart of the family, especially during festive holiday gatherings. As the first operator of the Wagon Wheel Diner, Dorothy's warmth and cooking created a welcoming atmosphere for all who visited. She also poured her heart into her roles as a cook at Stanton Nursing Center and Dairy Queen, where she brought smiles to many faces. Known for her sweet soul and spirited personality, Dorothy was a true firecracker, embracing life with enthusiasm and savoring every moment like a precious gift. In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Knox; two sons: Billy Ray Knox and Jerry Lynn Knox; two brothers: Weedie Adams and Raymond Adams; and four sisters: Alice Knox, Ackie Friend, Ruby Adams, and Ann Thomas. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann “Sissie” (Garland) Phillippe of Clay City; three grandchildren: Stephanie (Logan) Faulkner, Charissa Knox, and Tiffanie Phillippe; four great-grandchildren: Isadora Wise, Whitley Faulkner, Elliot Noble, and Jayden Bingham; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral Services, officiated by Bro. Garland Lacy and Bro. James Harold Combs will be held at the funeral home at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Burial will be held at Knox Cemetery in Stanton, Kentucky, with Pete Thomas, Woodie Adams, Paul Adams, Jerry Meadows, Ray Grigsby, Jay Bingham, and Logan Faulkner serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Sharon Patrick, Patsy Ledford, Pat Burgher, Betty Daniel, Betty Neal, Nina Everman, Anna Stamper, Ruth Lacy, Sue Lacy, Gerry Coleman, and Thomas Byrd. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
